Danish designer Anette Nordrup founded GRO ten years ago while on maternity leave with her first child, because she couldn’t find any alternatives to baby blue and pale pink when shopping for baby clothes. She saw a niche in the market, left her job in sales and marketing with the airline company SAS and started producing GRO’s first collection from home.

Today, GRO is a significant player on the Danish children’s fashion market, and the Odense-based company is represented in 27 countries around the world. Production takes place within Europe, in Portugal and Turkey, and the brand is known and acclaimed both in Denmark and internationally for its high quality and unique prints, all created by the company’s design team, supervised by Anette Nordrup.

Anette Nordrup’s vision of creating children’s fashion which is comfortable as well as reflecting current fashion trends has been met with enthusiasm by international dealers and media who see this fusion between comfort and aesthetics as something distinctively Nordic.

Part of the collection is made of ecological cotton under the international certification standard GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). This especially applies to items worn close to the body such as bodies, underwear and T-shirts. GOTS is the customer’s guarantee that a given textile product contains at least 95% ecological material, and that production is both environmentally and socially responsible. In producing textiles bearing the GOTS mark, no chemical which is known to be poisonous, cancer-inducing, reproduction-harming or known to have a harmful impact on the environment can be used.
